What's New in Kentico Cloud—April 2017
In April, we kicked off Kentico Roadshow in Australia, where you could meet Kentico Cloud, and we have also been working hard behind the scenes to bring you new functionality and great improvements. So what features have we released this month?
Limit Content Elements
With the latest release, you can limit the number and file size of uploaded assets. You'll appreciate this feature, when you need to restrict the number and size of uploaded images or PDF files to meet the requirements for your website performance or improve the page load time. And if that wasn't enough, you can also limit content types in modular content elements. For example, when you're preparing a template for a product page that needs to contain three features, you'll be able to specify the content type for each modular content item and guide your content contributors to provide the expected input. It's awesome, isn't it?
Introducing Asset Library
When putting your content together and uploading images and attachments, there are certainly times when you need to make sure that the look and feel of your pages as well as SEO metadata are consistent. Now, with Asset library, you can have an overview of all available assets in a single place! For now, you can only use the files from the Asset library as asset content elements. But don't worry, we are still working on this great feature and we're also open to your feedback to make it suit your needs.
Improved Linking of Content Items
As you may remember, we introduced the linking of content items from within a rich text in March. The improvements we're bringing you this time provide you with an overview of links in the website Information Architecture and help you avoid broken links. Content contributors can now open a linked content item directly from the rich text field without having to navigate back to the Content Inventory and search for the linked item. In the Details section of a content item, you can also see where the content item is used in the Content Inventory, which is especially useful when you need to unpublish or delete the content item form the live site. To prevent broken links, you'll get a friendly warning before publishing content items that link to unpublished content items.
Segmentation Based on Demographics and Geolocation
Would you like to target contacts of certain age or from a specific area? Now, with segmentation based on demographics and geolocation, you can! Marketers will surely enjoy adding conditions for segmenting contacts according to age, gender, job title, company, and location. Your marketing campaigns will reach better results when you target relevant contact groups.
Dynamic Segments with Time Filter
Not only can you create dynamic segments that are now recalculated every minute, but you can also enable a time filter for them. For example, when you want to target contacts who visited a specified page in a certain time interval, you can set the time filter to the last number of days, weeks, months, and years, or set the time filter from specific date. As a result, the segments contain contacts that meet the conditions you set and are always up-to-date. You can use the dynamic segments for sending newsletters to a specific audience.
Boilerplate Project for ASP.NET Core MVC
In cooperation with Get Started, Kentico Cloud brings you a boilerplate containing a set of features common to the majority of ASP.NET projects running on Kentico Cloud. This Visual Studio template utilizes the Kentico Cloud Delivery SDK for .NET, and provides you with best practices and development patterns. Moreover, the boilerplate significantly reduces the time necessary for setting up your project. Therefore, developers who want to develop projects rapidly will surely appreciate that they can focus on the project implementation rather than configuration.
To learn more about the boilerplate project, read the DevNet article by Bryan Soltis.
That's it for now. Remember, if there are any features you would like to see or improvements you think we should make, please just drop us a line through Intercom. Of course, you can also tell us in person at Kentico Roadshow. In May, we're bringing Kentico Cloud to the US and Europe, so you can still get your free slot.
