How real-time collaboration works

Some content management systems allow multiple people to edit one piece of content at the same time, and many of those that don’t. Although that one element is locked, they can still do other collaborative actions, such as:

Observing your changes in real-time,
Assigning tasks,
Editing other elements in the same content item,
Adding comments and suggestions.
