Considerations
There are a few things to remember when using AI translation.
Language identification
The AI determines the source and target languages based on their names and codenames and considers the source content as well.To ensure the AI determines the languages accurately, we recommend that project managers usestandardized machine-readable language codenames.
Source of translation
When using AI to translate your content, Kontent.ai uses DeepL to facilitate the translation. In case DeepL doesn’t support the specific source and target language combination, ChatGPT translates your content instead. Make sure your languages are well-named.
Translating structured content
The AI only translates content outside structured content like tables or components.
Tables are only copied to the target language, not translated.
Components in rich text are not copied and translated to the target language.
Content items embedded in rich text are carried over to the target language. You need to translate them separately, though.
If you need to translate the structured content from the source language, use AI assistance in rich text. For example, to translate a component from your source language to French:
Copy the component from the source language and paste it into the target language.
Localization strategy plays a significant role in the regions you operate in. It enables you to adapt your content to suit each region’s languages, cultures, and traditions.
