Last but not least, your third superpower is the media asset library. In this lesson, you’ll discover the capabilities of the asset library, how to use images in content items, and how to reuse images and other assets in multiple places.
Asset library
Assets in the asset library can be virtually anything: images and illustrations in various formats, PDF or Microsoft Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, videos, or anything else.
Folders
You can store assets in folders, and you can nest the folders as many levels deep as you want. That way, you can create a clear hierarchical asset structure so you don’t get lost in the library even when you have thousands of assets.
Asset taxonomies
To help you find what you need and keep your asset library neatly organized, you can also tag your assets with taxonomy terms. You can categorize your assets, for instance, based on the topic they’re about, the team they belong to, or the region they’re intended for.
Use assets in content items
As with linked items, assets can be linked to your content item in rich text elements or in stand-alone asset elements. To add a new media asset to a content item, you have a few options:
Drag your file onto an asset element or rich text editor to upload the file from your computer.
Place your cursor in the text, click in the popup that appears, and then . You can either select an asset from your asset library or click Browse to upload a new file.

Reuse and customize imagesThe great thing about assets in Kontent.ai is that you can link the same asset over and over without creating duplicates. And in case you need a slightly different variation of the same image, you can customize the image directly in the UI.
