Multifactor authentication

Multifactor authentication (MFA) is a method for using more than one piece of information to verify user identity during sign-in.
Kontent.ai supports Time-Based One-Time Password (TOTP). You can use authenticator apps, such as Google Authenticator, to sign in.

Options to enable multifactor authentication

Multifactor authentication can be activated in two ways:
  • Self-managed multifactor authentication – you can enable, reset, or disable MFA for your account.
  • Multifactor authentication per domain – require MFA for all users with specific email domains.
    • For example, if enabled for the kontent.ai domain, all users with email accounts from that domain need to enter additional information (instead of using only their password) to sign in.

Enable multifactor authentication for your account

To enable MFA for your account:
  1. Click your name at the bottom right.
  2. Select Profile details.
  3. Click Enable under Multifactor authentication.
You’ll then be guided through the MFA setup process.

Manage multifactor authentication

In your Profile details > Multifactor authentication, you can:
  • Reset your MFA to switch to a new device
  • Disable MFA for your account
If you lose access to your authenticator device and recovery code, contact our support team using the chat button below for assistance.

Enable multifactor authentication per domain

MFA is available to everyone, but requiring MFA for your entire domain is available for Enterprise plans only.
  • If you’re already on an Enterprise plan, contact our support team using the chat button below, and we will set it up for your domain.
  • If you’re not on an Enterprise plan, contact our sales team and let them know your requirements.
When MFA is required for your domain, you will need to set up MFA when you first sign in. If you need to switch your MFA to a new device, you can reset MFA in your profile details as described above.

Using multifactor authentication to sign in

When signing in with multifactor authentication enabled, you’ll enter the code from your authenticator app. You can select “Remember this device for 30 days” to skip entering the code on that device for the next 30 days.
Recovery codeDuring MFA setup, you’ll receive a recovery code. Save this code securely, as you can use it to access your account if your primary authentication device isn’t available. Each recovery code can only be used once, and Kontent.ai generates a new code each time you use one.
