Integrate Web Spotlight with spaces

If you’re using spaces for your single project, you can integrate Web Spotlight with spaces to synchronize your content across your website. For a multisite setup, like the Ficto Luxe example, you can repeat the same for each website within your project. This integration lets your content be displayed consistently and accurately across all your websites. To prepare for integration, you need to activate Web Spotlight. One of the perks of activating Web Spotlight is that it comes with a few additions to your content model to streamline the setup process and manage the web content in Kontent.ai. Here’s a checklist of what you need to have ready before activating Web Spotlight:

• Collections – organize your content to reflect your business’s structure and purpose, further streamlining content creation and management. 
• Workflows – define the process that content in each collection will follow, ensuring that your content creators align with your organizational standards and processes.
• Spaces – assign collections to specific spaces to manage content effectively across different websites or channels.

With Web Spotlight activated, you ensure consistent and efficient content delivery on your websites.

The root of all content

For Web Spotlight to work with spaces, you need a root item. Since you activated Web Spotlight, creating a root item will use one of the content types that came with the activation as the default. Having a root item assigned to your space will let you:

• Establish the hierarchy and structure of your website within that space.
• Keep content specific to this space, ensuring it fits the intended website.
• Simplify the content creation process to locate and update content specific to that space quickly.
• Manage previews and publishing configurations specific to different parts of your content.

To exemplify, the left side of the image below shows Ficto Rouge’s space configuration with the root item from the Web Spotlight’s root type. The root item serves as the foundation of the website’s hierarchy.  The right-hand side of the image shows this root item integrated within Ficto Rouge’s Web Spotlight. This integration lets Ficto Rouge’s teams build and manage the website’s hierarchy and navigation. They can create content in the designated space. Before you set your root item, ensure you have your foundational parts ready beforehand: collections, workflows, and spaces. Then, add the root item to your space for your content to grow. Now, you’ve got your very first website set up with Web Spotlight. Repeat the same process for other websites if you aim to have a multisite project.
